So today, we got up really late since "princess pretty pants" (my brilliant & highly skilled mini gardening assistant) had been keeping the parents up 'til 2 & 3 in the morning we were unable to make it to church this morning. (Insert: Sad Face) So we were pretty much locked up in the house all day since the weather was rainy, windy, and chilly today. All I could do is peak outside every now and then hoping for some rain break, so I could get outside and finish cleaning up last years left over "garden funk", but disappointingly the weather did not let up. But I did get some gardening chores out of the way to day inside the house. The rest of my seeds that will be direct sown this week are all organized and ready to go. I've spent the last day and 1/2 sketching my final raised bed garden/micro backyard homestead, found my new 8x8 greenhouse, and found used wine corks for my garden planting templates that I'm going to make! I need 16 seed holes per 12inch square, 9 seed holes per 12 inch square, and 4 seed holes per 12 inch square templates! Because doing it with your fingers gets old, finger gets sore, and it's not consistent which drives me nuts!
If the mailman would just make my day tomorrow morning then I could get to watts landscaping and let the dump-trucks of compost deliveries commence! This is killing me everyone is so far ahead of me, I dream about spring/summer gardening season 365 days and 24 x 7 and here I am this behind!
And I found the chicken coop design that I want for our backyard micro homestead in the making! I can't wait to get to it!
Anyway as usual,

http://www.ehow.com/how_8232238_grow-japanese-eggplants-containers.html
*2 thyme plants- but going back for 6 more
*2 yellow pear tomato plants - the hub's favorite
*2 cherry tomato plants
*2 sage plants- but I'm going back for 6 more
*10 more strawberry plants (ozark)
*12 jalepeno plants
-gotta go by Watt's Landscaping to order 2 dump trucks full of compost 'cause I've got a lot of beds to fill up
-got so many beds to build QUICKLY and filled up, so I can get to growin
-need to get an estimate and get going on filling the front yard up with compost, so that fall gardening will be in full swing LARGE LIKE by end of summer
So much to do, so little time
It's raining the next 2 days, so I'll just keep prepping and waiting for sun to return!

Well I'm SO BEHIND this year for 2012!
Well welcome back to ijustwannagrow's blog spot where I'll be posting the Taylor's BackYard Homesteading Project progress, as we continue to work toward being more self-sustainable. We may not reach fully self-sustainability on this piece of property, but we're working toward trying. As you can see we have successfully brooded our first 5 family chickens ever, and have 6 more on order from www.mypetchicken.com They will arrive the week of June 18th, 2 white leghorns, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte, & 2 Easter Eggers! HELP, I'm addicted already! LOL
Since I over did it trying to ignore my neck aggravation, the hubs went ahead and tacked up the pea fencing around the back two corners of one of my 4 x 4 x 20 beds. I've got pea flowers out on this pot of peas. Sometime this week the back two corners from the inside of bed will be lined with peas, and that 4x4 bed is going to be planted with carrots & radishes. This will be my first hand at trying carrots, and can't tell you how excited I am to take a swing at them!
Stay tuned MORE to come. Welcoming Spring with open arms!
